Forums are genially an overlooked resource for generating both traffic and also backlinks. However they are an extremely powerful way to get targeted traffic to your site.

If you aim to be successful online, then you should use the forums as a way to promote your site. Forums can and do produce quite a lot of traffic if you use them if they are used the right way.

The things about forums are that they have a very specific audience and you should pick on that one is in relation to the site you are promoting.

I would like to point out that nobody likes spam so please read the forums Terms and Conditions (TOC) and their Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) as getting this wrong may get you banned from the form.

A  lot of forums will not allow affiliate links either in your signature.

So when posting in forums please add to the forum such as useful comments and not just one word replies. Most forums will allow you to have a link in your signature line.

How Do I Find a Forum?

Now let’s take a look at finding a forum to help promote our site. A simple search using your favourite search engine will produce a lot of forums in your specific niche. For example let’s say that our site is dedicated to fish keeping brings about 4,850,000 results.

That is a very large amount of forums, and too many for you to join. And the category of this search is a little too vague to be of much help.  Now if we define our search term as Angel Fish keeping forum the results are only about 15,200,000 results.

This is still too many to be able to join or to even use. We could try to narrow our search down even more or we could simply pick few to be able to promote our site. You could pick a few of these forums to take a look at and join the one you like.

After joining these forums you will need to start building your reputation on these sites. The way to do this would be to become an active member of those sites by posting comments to other people’s posts or even starting conversations with other members.

This method has the advantage that people who uses these forums are already interested in the products or services that you provide.

Another good point is that this method is fairly cheap in monetary terms but will cost you in time. You may find that by using the forums that you will be able to understand your customer’s needs better and what their needs are.

When joining a forum you should complete their profile. This will help the users get to know you better and will go a long way make you less a spammer.

Most forums are aimed at sharing information. This includes discussion and reviews.

I would recommend that you try and make about 10 posts a day depending on the type of reply used, as some may take a longer reply than others. This will show the other users that you are a very active member of the site. It will also have the advantage of showing the site owners that you are committed member of the forum.

I would also suggest that you be ready to socialize with other members as the more you interact the more people know about you the more they will trust you.

This will provide a very good source of traffic once you have started to build a reputation with these sites. Please remember that the more you post in the forums the more backlinks will show up. This will also lead to more traffic.

Some of the forums will allow you to promote your products. You may even be able to offers a special rate for the other members

There are also searches for information that changes often, but isn’t really a hot topic or a recurring event. For example, if you’re researching the a specific product, or you’re in the market for a new car and want reviews of a specific car, you probably want the most up to date information.”

So here is what you need to understand from this announcement to improve your website ranking and ideally increase your sales.

1. If you don’t have a blog, start one NOW.

2. Blog or post articles about recent events or hot topics that are trending to give yourself an advantage

3. Blog or post fresh new content to your site DAILY if you can, frequent updates is paramount.

4. Blog about topics or events with YOUR own key words embedded in the content.

5. Up-to-date review sites about products that have rich quality content with key words gives you an advantage in ranking.

Google is essentially telling you what their indexers and bots look for when ranking web pages. Listen to what they are telling you, take this information and start blogging, not once a month, but daily if you can. Make sure your blog is monetized to maximize your opportunities for profit and lead generation.

A significant part to any website is to get traffic to it.  The more traffic you can get to your site the greater your chance of sales and thus profit.  For the sake of this article I will assume you have a chosen niche (niche is a site that is dedicated to a specific area such as Harley Davidson would be a niche but Harley Davidson 1200 Custom would be a more targeted niche) I will also assume that you have chosen your keywords for you niche.

I would like to point out that your keyword research be an ongoing part of your site.

The following tips will be based on the above assumptions.

Tip 1. Make sure that you are targeting the right key words.
Don’t spend all your time on optimising your content to only neglect your keywords. Also don’t forget to tag your words.  Tags are where search engines will see your site.

There are a few types of tags including:

Title tag. This is possible the most important area to put your keywords and your page title. These tags look like <title> 5 Tips</title> All you need to do this this example would be to change the text between <title> and </title> Just put in your primary keyword or your keyword phrase.

Header tag. This is the next important tag to search engines. This tag will look like <h1> Your text goes here </h1> These tags are ranked by their importance.

•    H1 is the most important tag
•    H2 is the next important tag
•    H3 is next in line of importance
•    H4 is next in line of importance
•    H5 is next in line of importance
•    H6 is next in line of importance

You can see that there are six tags in the order of importance.

Meta tags are used to provide a short descriptive text. It would seem that a few search engines don’t use these tags as much these days. However some do. I would recommend that you still use these tags as they still may carry some weight with search engines.

Alt tag. These tags are provide a text description of the image. Each of the images on your site should contain these tags. Remember that search engines can’t read your images. Also screen reader won’t be able read them either. If you only learn one thin from this article I hope it will be this.

Tip 2. Add Content to your site Daily

This is an essential part of generating traffic, it also affects your search engine rankings. The search engine spiders love new content. If you have a WordPress site. When you add content it will ping several sites to let search engines know that you have added new content and there spiders will visit. Without these spiders your page will not be indexed or ranked. Blogging and taking part in social media sites, forums, and chat rooms.

Now it is more important now than ever to build a community. This could be offering a forum or using the social networks such as Facebook  or twitter will also help get traffic to your site they will also help provide links back to your site. You should create a profile with them and start a conversation.
You should also get involved with chat rooms and forums. Forums tend to be industry-specific so you may have to do a search for your type of forums. A good point to mention that with forums you should try to add something to the message there and not just post links to your site.

Most advertizing solutions are expensive. The mainstream advertising campaigns can be incredibly costly, and a lot of the sites that let you to run small campaigns are a trap for the inexperienced advertisers – you have to master the systems to be successful, or you’ll be getting a lot of ignored advertising; without this knowledge, you’ll probably be throwing your money down the drain (or into the ompanies pockets, for which they’re very grateful).

Traffic exchanges are different. It’s a simple concept: for each occasion you see different user’s site, another user will be sent to yours.

In exchange for a small amount of your time, you receive guaranteed actual visitors sent to your site. Traffic exchanges are everywhere. A traffic exchange is a clever way to get hundreds or thousands of visitors to your website. The concept is very simple and the exchange process is easy to put into action. First, you join a traffic exchange program that includes individuals with websites to promote. Next, you set up the website you want to promote. Finally, you visit the websites of the other members and they visit your website in exchange.

There are both fr^ee and paid traffic exchanges. Some of the exchanges are good and some are not so good. They come in two basic flavors: manual surf and automatic surf. In the manual surf mode, you have to visit a website for a minimum period of time and then click on a button to visit the next website in the rotation. In the automatic surf mode, the websites are visited automatically for a specific period of time before the next website is displayed. The order of website visitation in both the manual and automatic mode is controlled by the traffic exchange webmaster.

A rotator or randomizer can be used to display the member websites one after another in either the automatic or manual surf mode. The rotator will display a different website in an order specified by the traffic exchange. In the auto surf mode, the rotator usually displays websites for a specific time period that usually ranges from 15 seconds to 60 seconds. The randomizer, on the other hand, will randomly select the website to be displayed. You earn credits as you view more and more websites.

A traffic exchange will expose your website to many Internet users on a worldwide basis. As a result, the exchange can possibly give your website a lot of hits. Visualize the traffic exchange in the same manner you would view a TV. The exchange provides you with websites to view similar to watching TV commercials.

The basic traffic exchange program works on the “credit” principle. You earn a full or partial “credit” every time you visit another member’s website. In turn, you lose a full credit whenever another member visits your website. The typical exchange allows you to earn from 0.5 to 1.0 credit for every visit you make to another member’s website.

You can usually obtain credits on the traffic exchange by:

  • Viewing the websites of other members
  • Referring other individuals to join the exchange

If you purchase credits, you generally have a higher rate of conversion of credits earned and/or purchased versus credits used when you receive visits from other members. You have greater control over how you use your earned credits when you pay to receive credits. It is possible to get an display rate of your website that exceeds 1.0 for every 1.0 credits you earned or purchased.

As an example, in the basic fr^ee mode you might have to use 2.0 earned credits to display your website 1.0 times to other members. This is a 0.5 exchange rate. Depending on the traffic exchange and the number of credits purchased, you can increase the exchange rate up to about 2.0 displays of your website to other members for every hit you receive.

Some exchanges offer a sign-up bonus (fr^ee earned credits) to encourage you to join their traffic exchange. This enables you to start getting visitors to your website immediately.

You have the ability to enable or disable your own website for viewing by other members. If you enable your website, other members can view your site and thus consume your account credits. If you disable your website, other members cannot view your website and you conserve your credits. The traffic exchanges specify whether or not you can have multiple websites for display. However, you can only display one website at a time if you are permitted to have multiple websites. You can specify how many of your earned and/or purchased credits can be applied to each of your websites.

Most exchanges have a referral program where you can earn credits for the people that you refer to the traffic exchange program and their surfing activity. As a bonus, you may receive a certain percentage of their earned credits. Your downline levels may be unlimited or limited depending on the traffic exchange structure.

Most traffic exchanges earn money from the “purchase credits” feature they offer and from advertisements. In general, an exchange member can specify whether or not they want to see popups, adult or erotic websites.

Most traffic exchanges have restrictions associated with your use of the exchange. For example, exchanges generally specify whether you can or cannot have: (1) popup windows, (2) message boxes, (3) inappropriate content or adult material, (4) break out of frames, (5) site rotation, (6) URL or domain forwarding and (7) more than one account.

Furthermore, the traffic exchange may be able to delete your account if: (1) your account is inactive for a given period of time or (2) your website is causing problems for the exchange system.

Some exchanges let their members sell their earned credits for cash back to the traffic exchange. The rate of conversion from earned credits to cash is controlled by the webmaster of the traffic exchange.

Your website design and the time it takes for the website to load are very critical when using a traffic exchange. Your webpage will never get viewed if your site takes 15 seconds to load and the exchange rotates the websites every 15 seconds. You want to have at least a 10-second viewing window to give the surfing exchange member time to respond to your webpage presentation.

Keep your website clean of unnecessary clutter. You want your visitor to make a quick decision whether to ask for more information or pass on your offering.

Make your displayed website short and simple. Do not send your visitors to the sales page on your main website. Provide a killer headline followed by supporting bullets and ask for their name and email address. Don’t make it complicated.

Put the lure on the fishing line and give your visitors a chance to say “yes” to your presentation. You need to get your message in front of your visitor quickly. Capture their name and e-mail address. You will have plenty of chances at a later time to market to your list.

Traffic exchanges can bring you a lot of traffic. It will take some work but the increase in your own opt–in list will provide constant inspiration. You should consider the benefits gained from traffic exchanges if you have the time and proper motivation.
